WISNY DORCE
My real name, my birth name, is Wisner Dorcelus but everyone knows me by my stage name which is Wisny Dorce.
I have been living in Argentina for 10 years and naturalized by option, that is,
I am an Argentine citizen. Regarding my training, I studied at the CFP Cine-
matographic Institution (Centro de Formacio?n Profesional del SICAAPMA)
between 2013 and 2015 and I also had the opportunity to study film at one of
the most important film schools in Argentina called ENERC ( National
School of Cinematographic Experimentation and Realization) between the
years 2016 and 2018.
I am one of the few Afro-descendant filmmakers in Argentina with experien-
ce in the field since 2013.
In 2017, he created Black Existence Films, the first Afro audiovisual produc-
tion company in Argentina. From the production company we have made va-
rious short films, medium-length films, feature films and video clips.
My first feature film was '' El Afortunado '' whose plot takes place in the
midst of different conflicts that interact with each other, and topics related to
racism, social class, the power struggle and ethics, the Argentine socio-eco-
nomic crisis and the social segregation that foreignizes Afro-Argentines by
denying them their history. "El Afortunado" has participated in national and
international independent film festivals, having been awarded numerous pri-
zes and recognitions. He has won 7 awards and a special mention at the 2019
Venezuela International Film Festival, 1 award at the Indy Film Awards,
Amsterdam 2020, has been a finalist at the Canadian Cinematography
Awards and has been selected at the Kosice International Film Festival 2020
in Slovakia. , at the Lig-Off Global Network First Time Filmaker Sessions
2019 and at Festival Prisma de Roma 2020. At the end of 2020, I produced
and directed the short "Julia", based on an idea by Norman Briski (One of the
most important of Argentina). In February 2021, I premiered the short "My
loneliness", the story of an unrequited love, where the black and white ima-
ges and the silent performance stand out.
In July 2021 I premiered the miniseries The Afro brothers on three television
channels in Argentina and this same miniseries is available on two digital
platforms in Argentina. LOS HERMANOS AFRO is a funny miniseries with
a moral in a comic and psychological drama key, inspired by the absurd logic
of inclusion problems, so that through parody, metaphor and irony they can
account for the bitter and routine existence of some Afros, product of the in-
visibility of a modern system that violates, obscures, eliminates the existence
of the black ethnic group in the books of Argentine history. Leo and Mimi are
not alone, they count on the help of Afro-immigrant friends from different
countries.
And from this same material from the LHA miniseries I made a feature film
version. This feature film has already been distributed and is being distributed
at various independent film festivals. It has already been selected at the
AFRIKA FILM FOR IMPACT FESTIVAL OF NIGERIA, NOBLE INTER-
NACIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DE INDIA and also at the ALTER DO
CHA?O DE BRAZIL CINEMA FESTIVAL where the film LOS HERMA-
NOS AFRO will be premiering from November 18 to 23 of 2021.
And also on Friday, November 5, 2021, I had the opportunity to give a lecture
at the University of Virginia in the United States about the projects that I am
carrying out in the Afro-descendant community in Argentina whose mission
is to expose the exclusion policy of the Argentine system towards Afro peo-
ple.
