Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Westwood.
Adriana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? Born in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico, the land of the Mariachi and Tequila. During my childhood, I was given a scholarship by Thomas Aquino College in Mexico. One of my passions, since I remember, was getting an education and working towards my dreams. My mother has been my inspiration. She’s always telling me, the best legacy for my children is a good education.
I took my first seminar at Clase y Estilo in Guadalajara, Mexico which included hairstyle, makeup and image consulting. In 2003, I attended Bribieska Art Institute in Guadalajara, Mexico where I studied to be a fashion designer and also took courses in custom jewelry, makeup, and hairstyle.
I moved to Atlanta, GA in 2009. At that time, my focus was on my son where I enrolled him in swimming, reading, music and acting classes. As I learned from my mother, I want the best education for my son.
In 2011, I started my own boutique business which includes clothing, jewelry, and shoes. I also took acting, modeling, and teleprompter classes. I have been very fortunate to do commercials for Univision and CNN, infomercials, several modeling shows, and TV series’. My goal as a Fashion designer is to highlight the beauty of women with a sophisticated and elegant style that represents our personalities, ambitions, and desires. My clothing line, AW COUTURE by Adriana Westwood will always be at the forefront.

Has it been a smooth road? It’s not so much a struggle but balancing my career as a Fashion Designer, Model, and Actress along with my son’s career, education and extracurricular activities. My son is my top priority and he will always come first in my life.
When you look back, what are you most proud of? Creating AW COUTURE and being asked to show my clothing line in several fashion shows including Fashionology International which was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and the NFL Players Association.
Every story has ups and downs. What were some of the downs others might not be aware of? My parents didn’t have money to help me. I was going to school to be a fashion designer and working multiple jobs. I probably got 3 hours of sleep a night. One thing I learned is if you have a dream, believe in yourself and don’t let anyone hold you back.
Is our city a good place to do what you do? Yes. Atlanta is a big city and a diverse one. It will only continue to grow.
