PIPO BEAT


Biography:

Jean Philippe Brierre aka Pipo Beat was born and raised in Haiti. At a very early aga Jean Philippe demonstrated a strong interest in music and began paying close attention to musical chords and melodies. In his teenage years ,Pipo Beat co foundedByenVag, a band made up of close friends in collaboration with other artistis/friends Mika Ben, KikoTru Rasta and others.

 

In his early twenties, Pipo Beat moved to Montreal. His insatiable appetite for all things sound related, led him to his decision to pursue professional traning opportunities in the field. Pipobeat graduated from the Sound Engineering Program at Musitechnic in 2004. Diploma in hand, Jean-Philippe and long time friend Roy Magloire decided to step out on their own and join crative forces. This fusion of musical talent gave birth to Martians Productions. It was during these years that their Caribbean roots were exposed to the raw energy of the North American urban hip hop movement. What emerged was an urban hip-hop infused with the rhythms and sounds of their native land’s racine/ rara and kompa musical traditions. This fusion topped with Martians’ signature synth sounds and drum patterns gave rise to the sound which Martians is known for today. In 2009, Jean- Philippe and Roy combined forces with Hi Stakes Management with Main Event Music Group based out of Miami, Florida. This partnership led to three tracks on heavy weight French rapper Boo- ba’s album ‘LUNATIC’. The album went double platinum selling 37,000 copies in its first week. By December 2010, ‘Lunatic’ had sold 110,000 copies. The Earthquake which struck Haiti in 2010 was the catalyst for a number of changes in Pipobeat’smustical career. Jean-Philippe made the decision to move back to the island. Along sideGaëthan Chancy and Bruno Moural, he became partner in Muska Group, the first audiovisual studio of its kind in Haiti. As Muska’s Chief Sound Engineer, Pipo Beat has since produced some of Haiti’s most promising up and coming music talent ; Mika Ben, Izolan, Team lobèy, Ogun, Roodyman, Niska, Eud, Ayiiti to name a few. Pipo Beat is proud to lend his talent to be a part of the music movement coming out of Haiti at a time when the wold is taking greater notice of Haitian born artistic talent.
