Ejike Okoye

Biography: I am from Amawbia in Awka south local government area in Anambra state but was born and brought up in Enugu. I am married with 3 wonderful kids. I graduated from Enugu State University of Science and Technology in year 2000. My discipline was marketing. Besides that I have done many other things in life; I was a newspaper vendor during my junior secondary school days. I worked for Nigerian Tobacco Company for a period of time right after my secondary school. I had a commercial bus when I first got into the university which I drove commercially for 2years after lecture hours. After my second year in the university I employed a driver. I have really being through a lot in life though sometimes bumpy and rocky but I remained focused. I recently won the “Best Actor in Leading Role Diaspora film” in the just concluded NAFCA awards held in North Carolina, U.S.A. FAR FROM HOME was the movie that gave me the award. I have bagged other entertainment and humanitarian awards. I am also a Numatville Mega City ambassador.

At my younger age I did stage acts at my church. I played the role of Samuel (you remember the story of Eli in Old Testament of the Bible) and also played the role of the prodigal son. My role interpretation was greatly commended by the church members. That was what inspired me to be an artist. At my teens, a friend invited me to an audition. I went and secured a role. The movie was shot but unfortunately it never saw the light of the day. The title was SCHOOL OUTLAWS. It was about campus life. That’s what influenced my choice of carrier and I really have a passion for acting.

I joined Nollywood officially in late 90s. I have featured in over 120 movies both in Nigeria and abroad. As a Nollywood actor/producer I will continue to promote the unity of Nigeria as one united country.
