SHERLEE SKAI

Biography:

Singer-songwriter Sherlee Skai is a unique voice and sound. Like many great artists, she started singing at an early age in church choir where she developed her soulful voice.

A native of Haiti, Skai spent her teenage years listening to great local artists such as Manno Charlemagne and Yole Derose, as well as American pioneers like Tracy Chapman and Lauryn Hill, among others. The impact of these varied influences resulted in a jazzy, folkloric, soulful sound… in other words genuine “world music.” Sherlee Will be introduced to the general public through her participations in the country's most popular television programs, and singing competitions. 2006 edition of Musique en Folie. Emigrated to the United States since 2007, Skai took the time to refine her voice and compositions while continuing to perform live. "Poesie ak Mizik Anba Tonel," "Ayiti Deploge," and more.In 2013 she releases the clip "Haiti Ou Manke'm ", which depicts the life of Haitian immigrants in host countries. In 2016 she collaborates with Princess Eud and BIC, to release the clip "File'm an

Kreyol" entirely shot in Haiti. This song pays tribute to the Creole language, the

Haitian women, and culture. After several singles and collaborations,

Sherlee Skai presents her album "Toutouni(Naked),” a project  of 12

pieces very personal to the artist. The album counts the touch of great musicians such as Dener Ceide, Charlson Duverne. With this album Skai invites us in her world where she celebrates her origins and shares her Haitian soul, her vision as an immigrant, as a woman standing in front of life, hence the title she chose: "Toutouni.”
